Fourth year in Macao for ever-popular ice sculpture exhibition
(Macao, April 1, 2015) – Ice World, Asia’s largest annual indoor frozen wonderland, returned to the Cotai Expo at The Venetian Macao® for its fourth year between Nov. 27, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Originally scheduled to conclude on March 8, Penguins Undercover Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang received such positive reviews that its run was extended until the end of March. The frozen wonderland offered the chance to see everyone’s favourite DreamWorks Animation characters that had been expertly carved in ice by talented craftsmen from Harbin.
As part of Sands China Ltd.’s commitment to the community, the company also hosted a community activity last December. Forty Sands China Care Ambassadors spent time with around 20 underprivileged local families from the Women’s General Association of Macao, escorting them around the Penguins Undercover Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang exhibition.
“The Venetian Macao would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Macau Government Tourist Office and the public for their overwhelming support for Penguins Undercover Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang. We would also like to give special thanks to the incredibly gifted craftsmen from Harbin who created the amazing sculptures that have given so much joy to guests of all ages.” said Scott Messinger, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Sands China Ltd. “We work hard to bring our visitors a wide variety of exciting and diverse entertainment options such as Ice World. These events are also part of Sands China’s multi-tiered entertainment strategy which is helping to reinforce Macao’s position as a world centre of tourism and leisure.”
Penguins Undercover Ice World with the DreamWorks Gang covered an exhibition area of more than 1,600 square metres and was divided into six themed zones where visitors were able to see ice renderings of Italian piazzas, bridges over canals, singing gondoliers and meet all-ice versions of the much-loved characters from “Shrek,” “ Madagascar,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” and “Kung Fu Panda.” Skipper and his fellow penguins – Kowalski, Rico and Private – took guests on a top-secret mission to explore the different worlds the DreamWorks Animation characters lived in, discovering what makes the holiday season so special for each.
