(Macao, June 29, 2016) – Sands China Ltd. held a large-scale recruitment fair Tuesday and Wednesday at The Venetian® Macao. The fair offered Macao residents the opportunity to explore a wide range of non-gaming career opportunities available at Sands China’s properties, including its newest integrated resort, The Parisian Macao. More than 1,500 Macao residents showed up for the fair, and over 160 contracts were signed on site.
Around 900 vacancies from around 80 positions were available at the fair. All vacancies were for technical positions and non-gaming positions in departments such as housekeeping, food and beverage, stewarding, front office and concierge. New team members will be assigned to work at different Sands China properties according to operational needs.
With recruiting local talent as its first priority, Sands China has launched a number of recruitment initiatives including a job fair in March targeted at recruiting local talent for The Parisian Macao, and an integrated resort career exhibition in June offering university students and graduates unique career development opportunities. To date, Sands China has hired approximately 1,600 new local team members to meet its increasing operational needs. To prepare these team members for their new career journeys, the company has been providing a series of training sessions that equip them with additional skill sets.
“I’m very pleased at the success of our large-scale recruitment fairs,” said Antonio Ramirez, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Sands China Ltd. “Our first priority and commitment is to hire Macao local residents as our team members, whom we see as the foundation of Macao’s diversification and growth into a world centre of tourism and leisure. The range of career options at Sands China is very wide, and we hope Macao’s talented pool of locals will find what they’re looking for at Sands China.”
Open only to Macao residents aged 21 or above, Tuesday and Wednesday’s fair featured a complete recruitment flow for most positions, from on-site interviews to contract signings. It offered Macao locals non-gaming vacancies from over 20 departments.
In order to provide a unique and interesting visual experience for applicants, the fair was decorated in a French theme, in light of the mid-September opening of the company’s newest integrated resort, The Parisian Macao.
As the leading developer of integrated resorts in Macao, Sands China provides a wealth of career development opportunities. Besides recruiting new hires from the local market, Sands China offers its team members an abundance of horizontal and vertical career mobility options. Supplementing the company’s internal transfer programme, the newly launched My Way programme has seen gaming team members seizing the opportunity to work in non-gaming departments and positions for a set period of time, discovering new areas of professional interest.
