Over 600 job offers made onsite
(Macao, March 24, 2016) – Thousands of Macao residents showed up at Sands® Cotai Central March 21-23 for Sands China’s first large-scale recruitment fair for The Parisian Macao. As the number of locals in attendance was higher than expected, the event was extended for one additional day to interview all walk-in candidates who came during the first two days. At the three-day recruitment fair, more than 600 contracts were signed on the spot.
“Sands China is very pleased at the turnout for our first large-scale recruitment fair for The Parisian Macao,” said Antonio Ramirez, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China Ltd. “We wanted Macao’s local talent to have first priority for our new positions, and the thousands of locals who came were shown the diversity of career paths available with The Parisian Macao and Sands China. Sands China is a big supporter of diversification in Macao; we offer many non-gaming career paths and we encourage Macao locals to take advantage of the diverse career choices available with Sands China.”
Open only to Macao residents aged 21 or above, the fair featured a complete recruitment flow for most positions, including everything from onsite interviews to contract signings. It presented Macao locals with vacancies from 40 departments. More than 95 per cent of the vacancies were for non-gaming positions, as over 90 per cent of The Parisian Macao’s operations are non-gaming related.
Nonetheless, gaming positions remain a popular choice with locals, with half of the fair’s candidates coming in search of a gaming opening. But that’s good news for those still looking for non-gaming opportunities, as there are many to choose from, with openings available in departments like housekeeping, food and beverage, front office and stewarding.
Sands China’s recruitment efforts will continue in the months ahead, leading up to the opening of The Parisian Macao. Please visit http://www.parisianmacao.com.
The large-scale recruitment drive is one of several ongoing efforts by Sands China to recruit team members for the opening of The Parisian Macao, a 3,000-suite integrated resort on Cotai scheduled to open in the second half of this year.
In addition to recruiting new hires from the local market, Sands China is offering an abundance of horizontal and vertical career mobility options. The newly launched My Way programme has seen gaming team members seizing the opportunity to work in non-gaming departments and positions at The Parisian Macao for a set period of time, discovering new areas of professional interest. To date, around 1,000 team members have shown interest in the programme and more than 300 team members have started their training. In the months to come, more gaming team members are expected to start their training and broaden their career horizons at the new property.
