MONOBLOC ACTUATOR COLLECTION
Porsche Design Macau

With the new MONOBLOC ACTUATOR Collection, Porsche Design sets new standards in the art and science of time measurement. The watchmakers at Porsche De-sign Timepieces AG in Solothurn, Switzerland collaborated with the designers at Studio F. A. Porsche in Zell am See, Austria and the engineers at Porsche Develop-ment Centre in Weissach, Germany to develop this line. The result is a revolutionary new approach to the operation of a chronograph. The role model for this innovative mechanism is the racing engine of the new Porsche 911 RSR: a paradigmatic ex-ample of precision and performance on the highest level. The MONOBLOC ACTUATOR 24H-Chronotimer features an innovative black titani-um-carbide coating over its titanium case, a matte black dial, and a checkered-flag-design function indicator at “9 o’clock” -- especially useful due to its optimal readability. This model is exclusively available on a rubber strap with deployment buckle.

 PORSCHE DESIGN STORY
Porsche Design Story
The idiosyncrasies that characterize Porsche Design can be traced back to its founder Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, his personality and his personal history: Born on December 11, 1935. In 1943, Ferdinand Alexander attends school in Zell am See.Meanwhile father Ferry begins work on his first sports car, which becomes the Porsche 356. His first great challenge is designing what would become the Porsche 911, making him the father of the iconic sports car. In the 1960s, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designs numerous other cars ; primarily race cars.
The early 1970s are a time of transition for the company. Porsche KG becomes a joint stock company under the name Porsche AG and the family withdraws from business operations. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche retains his seat on the Supervisory Board but is forced to relinquish his position as head designer to comply with rules. In 1972, driven more by the need to create than a promising business model, he founds Porsche Design in Stuttgart.
The Porsche company is among the first to commission a project. The sports car manufacturer is in search of a suitable gift for employees of longstanding service. It commissions a watch and commits to buying 20 units per year. Otherwise, FerdinandAlexander and his small team spend most of their time working on pursuits that interest him personally: In addition to watches, they design glasses, pipes, writing utensils. Everything he and his team design breaks the mold.
