Sands China Marks Year of the Pig with Traditional Ceremonies and Lion and Dragon Dances

(Macao, Feb. 6, 2019) – Sands China Ltd. welcomed the Year of the Pig with traditional cultural ceremonies at its properties Wednesday, with company executives participating in the annual tradition.

The company held worship rituals, eye-dotting ceremonies, and traditional lion and dragon dance performances at Sands® Macao, The Venetian® Macao, Sands® Cotai Central and The Parisian Macao on the second day of the Lunar New Year to attract good luck and blessings to the properties and to Macao.

In addition, company executives will celebrate the New Year with team members next week, at special back-of-house events at the four properties featuring games, lucky draws, roast pig-carving ceremonies, and a parade by team members.

And leading up to the Lunar New Year, team members were invited to take part in a design competition that called for team members to submit creative designs for festive Chinese New Year banners – to be later used as back-of-house decorations – for a chance to win gifts and prizes.

“Sands China is very pleased with all the dedicated efforts of our team members in 2018,” said Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. “The company wishes for the Year of the Pig to be a prosperous one for our team members and for all of Macao. We hope Macao continues taking large strides establishing itself as a world centre of tourism and leisure, and we wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year.”
