St Petersburg Ballet Theatre’s Swan Lake at The Venetian Macao on April 27 and 28, 2018

(Macao, March 28, 2018) – Ever wondered what it takes to bring a world-renowned ballet production to international locations? If you assumed travelling ballet companies simply pack a spare pair of tights and a tutu when performing overseas, think again. When the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre returns to The Venetian Theatre, The Venetian® Macao on April 27 and 28, 2018, the renowned company will travel not only with its dancers, scenery and costumes, but also wardrobe and makeup specialists, set and lighting designers, stage hands, a doctor and a masseur – 60 personnel in all.

Sets and costumes alone – including over 200 pairs of delicate, pink pointe shoes – fill a 20-foot container (although the dancers arrive at the Cotai Ferry Terminal personally carrying their own expensive bejewelled tutus). Ballet is extremely physical, and in spite of their super-slim looks, dancers have big appetites, requiring plenty of protein, fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and even chocolate! It is essential dancers maintain high energy levels, both for rehearsal and performance.

Tickets are still available for the return season of the internationally acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet Theatre at The Venetian Macao when they will perform the world’s most famous ballet, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, at The Venetian Theatre on April 27 and 28, 2018. Book now at all Cotai Ticketing box offices, from MOP / HKD 388.
