Positive response from team members with doubling in membership
(Macao, June 30, 2016) – The Sands China Care Ambassador programme ran a recruitment drive June 22-28, giving Sands China team members a chance to learn more about the programme, and offering them opportunities to volunteer in the local Macao community as an Ambassador.
The successful event was met with enthusiasm by Sands China team members. With the recruitment drive complete, the Sands China Care Ambassador programme now counts nearly 1,500 members, an almost two-fold increase.
Corporate social responsibility is an important part of how Sands China conducts business, and the Sands China Care Ambassador programme is one of the company’s long-standing initiatives in this area.
Held in the back-of-house areas of Sands® Macao, The Venetian® Macao, and Sands® Cotai Central, the recruitment drive introduced Sands China team members to the Care Ambassador programme, with Ambassadors sharing their experiences volunteering and signing up interested team members.
Care Ambassador souvenir keychains were given to team members who signed up during the recruitment drive. The keychains were handmade by service users of Fuhong Society of Macau, and some of the promotional materials at the event featured Fuhong service users’ artwork, in support of their talented artists.
The Sands China Care Ambassador programme aims to give Sands China staff an opportunity to serve the local community by helping to make Macao a better place to live, while contributing to its development. With over 500 volunteers coming together from across all Sands China properties – The Venetian Macao, Sands Macao, The Plaza Macao and Sands Cotai Central – the Sands China Care Ambassadors have contributed more than 8,500 voluntary hours of community service in over 100 activities since the programme was founded in August 2009. Through a variety of community activity formats, memorable experiences are created for the volunteers and the beneficiaries, moving the hearts of all involved. Efforts include reaching out to communities through events like friendly competitions and creating arts and crafts with people with intellectual disabilities; acquiring enriching experiences like learning sign language and experiencing a silence workshop; delivering festive joy in visits to live-alone elderly during Chinese New Year; and enjoying happy outings that bring underprivileged families to various exhibitions at The Venetian Macao. Sands China Ltd. considers initiatives like these central to its commitment towards community outreach and service.
