CCTV-5 and IBF will present a grand sporting event for global audiences — the 2017 the 5th CCTV Chinese Lunar New Year Cup - IBF World Championship during Chinese Lunar New Year 2017. The event will be held in Cotai Arena, The Venetian Macao on Jan. 29th and Jan. 30th 2017.
This is the first time that CCTV is cooperating with the international sporting organization to forge CCTV-5’s classic Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration TV program. Both CCTV and IBF goal is to make the games world-class events.
The lineup compiles of 24 fighters from China, France, Japan, Mexico, Romania, Philippines and Thailand who will compete during two nights of bouts. They will fight for their golden belts respectively on their title fight including IBF Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion’, ‘IBF World Junior Bantamweight Champion’, ‘IBF World Female Mini Flyweight Champion’, ‘IBF China Lightweight Champion’, ‘IBF Asia Youth Middleweight Champion’ and ‘IBF Asia Bantamweight Champion’.
CCTV Chinese Lunar New Year Cup and CCTV Spring Festival Gala has been called — The CCTV’s Classics of Annual New Year Celebration which are very popular among Chinese all over the world and the CCTV Chinese Lunar New Year Cup also appeals to celebrities from the boxing field and sports fans around the world.
This the first time the event will be held in Macao and as such supports the Macao government’s goal to show Macao as a world class tourism and leisure destination. The event is organized by CCTV-5 and IBF China, CCTV Sports & Entertainment and Rejoy Group. In addition the event is also supported by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) and Macao SAR Government. During the live broadcast, Macao’s local history and culture will also be featured nationwide as well.
