Community Partners Thanked at Venetian Macao Appreciation Lunch

(Macao, August 25, 2012) - Over 50 representatives and service users from local social organisations and academic institutions were treated to a special lunch at The Venetian. Macao-Resort-Hotel Saturday, as a token of appreciation for their collaboration with the integrated resort over the years, in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the resort and the Cotai Strip.. Edward Tracy, President and Chief Executive Officer, and other senior executives of Sands China Ltd. attended the event, as they look forward to another year of cooperation with the social organisations and academic institutions.

Mr. Tracy expressed gratitude to all the attending guests and said, "Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve the local community, whether it's by working with underprivileged groups or by giving scholarships and fellowships for the development of local talent. As our volunteer force of Sands China Care Ambassadors has shown, it's not only the community that benefits from these collaborative projects, but our dedicated volunteers themselves. They give so freely of their time and energy because of the wonderful nature of service itself. It's one of those magical things that when we give selflessly to others, we find that we ourselves get so much joy and satisfaction from seeing the fruit of our efforts."

He added, "Next week, we mark the fifth anniversary of The Venetian Macao, and of the Cotai Strip. And next month on the 20th, the biggest Sheraton in the world will open its doors right across the street from us, with a spectacular celebration at Sands Cotai Central. It's been an amazing five years of development on the Cotai Strip, and we've made it one of our priorities to engage with the community along the way."

Mr. Tracy also presented cheques for scholarships and fellowships to six higher-education institutes, namely the University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macao Polytechnic Institute, the Institute for Tourism Studies, the University of Saint Joseph and the Macau Institute of Management, for the 2011/2012 academic year. The donations will benefit 101 local students. Sands China Ltd. has contributed a total of MOP 3,760,000 to higher-education institutes since the 2006/2007 academic year and 586 local students have benefited from the scholarships and fellowships during the past six years.

In addition, to celebrate the third anniversary of the Sands China Care Ambassador Programme, awards were presented to five Ambassadors who have rendered the greatest number of service hours since August 2011. Founded in August 2009 and with a current membership of 370 coming together from across all Sands China properties - The Venetian Macao, Sands. Macao, The Plaza. Macao and Sands. Cotai Central, the group has contributed 2,700 hours of community service over the last three years, dedicating themselves to the betterment of the Macao community.

Lucky draws giving away food and beverage prizes were held during the event. The Venetian Macao's signature Streetmosphere. performers also gave entertaining performances to wrap up the event.
