Winter in Venice Photo Competition Exhibition on Display Now at Venetian Macao

(Macao, December 29, 2012) – The Winter in Venice Photo Competition Exhibition opened its doors Saturday at The Venetian® Macao, after an official award presentation ceremony, and will run until January 13, 2013, the end of the Winter in Venice seasonal extravaganza.

 

Mr. Sio Kin Seng was the recipient of the grand prize of MOP 10,000 for his photo entitled “Winter in Venice,” which shows the façade of The Venetian Macao brilliantly lit in blue by the spectacular 3D light and sound show “The Magic of the Seasons,” one of the world’s largest architectural 3D video mapping projects ever created. Besides the grand prize, two first-runners-up each received MOP 6,000 cash, with three second-runners-up each receiving MOP 3,000 cash. A total of 50 Awards of Merit were also given out, with a MOP 500 food and beverage coupon each.

 

The Winter in Venice Photo Competition asked Macao residents to submit their original photos showing the memorable moments from the various attractions of Winter in Venice, the biggest holiday carnival in Macao, and a first in Asia. Over 500 entries were received during the 12-day submission period.

 

“This photo competition was another great opportunity for us to get involved and interact with the local Macao community,” said Brendon Elliott, Vice President of Sales and Resort Marketing, Venetian Macau Limited. “We were thrilled with the interest shown in the competition and received some fantastic entries. We look forward to hosting more community events like this in the future.”

 

A panel of judges, primarily composed of members of professional photography associations, awarded 56 prizes in total. In addition to a representative from The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel, the seven-member judging panel was composed of members of Macao Multimedia Photographic Art Association, Photography Salon Society of Macao, The Photographic Society of Macao, MCGAS, Macao Association of Photographers and Macao Digital Photography Association. The six photography associations in the judging panel also acted as supporting entities of the Winter in Venice Photo Competition, along with Digital Hang Seng, Foto Digital Fantastic, Digital Chi Pak, Photo New Asia and Foto Time Laser Print.

 

Winter in Venice lasts until January 13, 2013, with The Venetian Macao transformed into a majestic winter wonderland, with exciting celebrations and festivities throughout the integrated resort. Supported by the Macau Government Tourist Office, this unprecedented seasonal experience in Macao features one of the world’s largest architectural 3D video mapping projects ever created, the spectacular 3D light and sound show, “The Magic of the Seasons.”Images are projected onto The Venetian Macao’s façade, taking spectators on an awe-inspiring journey themed on the four seasons. Night-time gondola rides in the outdoor lagoon during weekends are available for viewing the stunning visuals.This ultimate holiday extravaganza has also brought to Macao one of its biggest outdoor Christmas trees standing elegantly over the lagoon area, the first and only synthetic skating rink in Cotai as well as a Giant Snow Globe located at St. Mark’s Square at The Venetian Macao’s Shoppes Grand Canal.
