(Macao, March 14, 2013) - Performing in front of a sell-out Cotai Arena™ crowd of screaming fans Thursday night, the hit reality TV talent show The Voice of China made its triumphant return to The Venetian® Macao for the exciting final concert performance of Season 1, in an epic Battle for the Best Voice - the last stop on its phenomenally successful nationwide tour.
Scheduled for telecast on Zhejiang TV on March 22, Thursday night's performance of The Voice of China Final Tour saw its 20 contestants vying for the distinction of being known as 'the best of the best,' headed by the leaders of their five-member teams.
"The Voice of China concerts have been incredibly popular events in Macao, with all four Cotai Arena shows to date having performed to sell-out audiences," said David Sisk, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sands China Ltd. "These shows have been hot ticket items, which itself is a strong indicator that Sands China's multi-tiered entertainment strategy is in tune with what locals and visitors look for - namely, the best in superstar entertainment. The company is pleased to have brought another hit performance to a city well on its way to becoming a world centre of tourism and leisure and one of the region's top entertainment destinations."
The teams' scores have been accumulating throughout their 12-city tour of China, with Thursday night's Macao performance the last chance for the contestants to show whether they've got what it takes to be the best. Both group and solo performances were delivered throughout the evening, with performers singing tunes including, "Sound Wave," "Love is Suspected," "Boundless Oceans Vast Skies" and "Good Man." The results of the Battle for the Best Voice competition will be announced on March 22 during the Zhejiang TV telecast.
The most popular TV show in China in 2012, The Voice of China brought its contestants to perform in front of a sell-out Cotai Arena audience two nights in a row last September, and was back again on New Year's Eve for a spectacular countdown concert. An enormous smash hit since hitting the airwaves in July 2012, the programme has seen the group of talented hopefuls - coached along the way by their celebrity mentors Liu Huan, Na Ying, Harlem Yu and Yang Kun - transform from unknown grassroots competitors to their current status as national celebrities in their own right.
Their nationwide Season 1 tour has taken them to throngs of awaiting fans at stadiums in Nanjing, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Guangzhou, Guiyang, Changsha, Chongqing, Quanzhou, Shenzhen, Nanning and Wuhan, having played to an estimated total audience of over half a million. Viewership of the broadcasts on Zhejiang TV has consistently ranked in the nation's top three.
The four teams that competed head-to-head in Thursday night's Cotai Arena show were:
- Liu Huan team: Liu Yue, Wang Naien, Yuan Yawei "Tia", Quan Zhendong and Li Daimo
- Na Ying team: Huang Yong, Zhang Wei, Duo Liang, Zhang Hexuan and Zhao Lu
- Harlem Yu team: Jin Chi, Mochou "Momo" Wu, Da Shan, Chu Qiao and Wang Ke
- Yang Kun team: Jin Zhiwen, Ping An, Ding Ding, Zou Hongyu and Zhou Lihu
