Guests, such as Zhang Hung Quan, Vice President of Star China Media Ltd, and Lu Fang from Shandong TV, as well as some of the nation’s top stars including Taiwanese singer and actress Rainie Yang, Hong Kong singer and actress Charlene Choi, Chinese band Shui Mu Nian Hua, Chinese music producer and singer Huang Zheng, and contestants from The Voice of China, attended the press conference. Meanwhile, the award list and the nomination list were revealed.
“This is our second year collaborating with Star China to bring the prestigious Star TV China Music Awards to Macao,” said Edward Tracy, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sands China Ltd. “It’s a partnership that has worked well, and it’s been great for entertainment in Macao. Bringing China’s biggest music stars to Macao for the awards show again this year is a big part of how we implement our multi-tiered entertainment strategy in Macao. Our goal is for Macao to become one of the region’s top destinations for superstar entertainment events, and also a world centre of tourism and leisure.”
The awards show launched in 1994 and has since gathered the nation’s top music industry talent in host cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei and Chengdu. It is the only Chinese music awards show that is telecast around across China and around the world.
Sands China has a long-term strategy of establishing Macao as Asia’s entertainment hub by bringing in world-class entertainment, art and cultural events to Macao. The company’s 15,000-seat CotaiArena has firmly established itself as the number one entertainment destination in southern China. For the last three years, the arena has been the only venue in Asia ranked in Pollstar’s Top 100 Worldwide Arena Venues, based on ticket sales. With new entertainment offerings on the way and the unveiling of new entertainment options at Sands® Cotai Central in April, the company seeks to play an integral role in ushering in a new era of entertainment and promises to bring the world’s best entertainment to Macao.
