(Macao,
February 10, 2013) – Sands China Ltd
ushered in the auspicious Year of the Snake Sunday with traditional festive
ceremonies across its properties: Sands® Macao,
Sands® Cotai Central, The Venetian® Macao
and The Plaza™ Macao.
Large crowds of enthralled onlookers gathered to see the worship ceremonies and
dragon and lion dance performances on the
Chinese New Year’s Day, hoping to share wishes of good fortune, health,
happiness and prosperity.
The symbolic rituals began with
Sands China executives participating in the worship ceremony and the
traditional eye-dotting ceremony at each property, followed by a dragon and lion
dance parade that wound its way throughout the inside of the resorts, where guests
lining the corridors eager to receive blessings for the new year ahead. The
dance troupes also travelled to the back-of-house dining area, allowing team
members to feel the festive joy at work. Symbolizing good luck, longevity and
prosperity, the dragon and lion dance is an important New Year tradition in
Chinese culture since ancient times. The executives also lit firecrackers rolled
up in red paper, another Chinese New Year custom believed to be able to ward
off evil spirits.
Through these auspicious
festivities, Sands China Ltd. hoped to bring good luck and blessings to its
Cotai Strip™ Resorts and Macao
as a whole for the coming year.
