Sands China Ltd. Helps 100 Elderly Subscribe The Use Of Macau “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Emergency Calling Service

(Macao, January 27, 2010)-In light to enable more elderly to benefit from the Macau “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service, Sands China Ltd. has sponsored 100 elderly to subscribe the use of “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service for year 2010.

Funded by Macao SAR Social Welfare Bureau and operated by the Macao General Neighborhood Unions Association, Macau “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service Centre has commenced its emergency calling service in March 2009. In addition to 24-hour emergency support service, the service centre also renders a wide range of social service including emotional relieve, community information and regular visits etc. The service targets are mainly the single living elderly, senior couples, as well as minority groups who are in need of this service in their daily life.

Steve Jacobs, President and CEO of Sands China Ltd. presented the donation cheque of MOP 120,000 to Mr. Io Hong Meng, Director of Macao General Neighborhood Unions Association, and Ms. Ng Siu Lai, Vice Director & General Secretary of Macao General Neighborhood Unions Association at Macau “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service Centre today at 2:00 pm followed by an introduction to the daily operations of the center.

Ms. Lam Lai Seong, General Manager of Macau “Peng On Tung” Tele-Assistance Service Centre says, “I want to express our sincere appreciation to Sands China Ltd. by using the Chinese saying which means sending charcoal to the needy in snowy winter. The donation will give timely assistance to the 100 elderly especially in this cold winter.”
