The 55th Asia-Pacific Film Festival stepped into the long-awaited day, with red carpet arrivals at The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel at 5 pm Saturday, ahead of the 8 pm award ceremony. The red carpet arrivals were hosted by Lai Chi Shan and Jarvis Chow. Members of Preparatory Committee of the 55th Asia-Pacific Film Festival, members of the Delegation of the Asia-Pacific Film Festival, members of the Nomination Committee, members of the Review Committee and actors and crew members of the nominated films, as well as numerous specially-invited Asian stars attended the event.
Zhou Shouxun, honorary chairman of the 55th Asia-Pacific Film Festival; Chen Yifeng, president of Macao Television Performing Arts Association and vice-chairman of the 55th session of Asia-Pacific Film Festival and his wife; Sands China Ltd. President and Chief Executive Officer Edward Tracy and his wife; Eric Tsang, executive chairman of the festival; Bowie Tsang, host of the award ceremony; and David Wu were the first to arrive.
Jury members Carina Lau and Lu Chuan, best actor candidatesLau Ching Wan and Tony Leung, best actress candidates Sonja and Prisia Nasution, best supporting actress candidate Watanabe Makiko, veteran actors Dillon and Kara Hui, plus Chen Yihan, Zhang Rongrong, Denise Ho, E02 Group, Avis and BRO 5 from Taiwan, along with actors including Michael Tse, Kate Tsui, Kenneth Ma, Bosco Wong, Elanne Kwong, Stephen Wong, Jia Xiaochen, Matthew Ko, Tan Wee Seng, Derek Tsang, Xu Weidong, Cen Lixiang, Miss Hong Kong Zhang Mingya, Liang Liying, director Adrian The and other guests were next to arrive.
Both hosts and stars were interviewed on their way into the luxurious Venetian Macao venue. "Hosting events like the 55th Asia-Pacific Film Festival in Macao is critically important for its development into a world centre of tourism and leisure," said Edward Tracy, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sands China Ltd. Twelve of the awards of the 55th Asia-Pacific Film Festival and a Special Contribution Award were unveiled Saturday night.
