(Macao, July 20, 2013) - Three-time Grammy-nominated fado singer Mariza enchanted her Macao audience with her distinctive and stirring voice in her Venetian Theatre debut at The Venetian® Macao Saturday night, delivering an intoxicating and soulful performance of MARIZA WORLD TOUR 2013.
Dressed elegantly in a long black gown, Mariza, one of the world's most accomplished interpreters of Portugal's traditional fado genre of music, emerged from the darkness to take the stage amidst a backing band of three guitarists and a percussionist. The world music diva filled the Venetian Theatre with the renowned emotional intensity of fado, performing a string of signature tunes like "Vianinha", "Rosa Da Madragoa" and "Chuva" garnering the rapturous applause of her diverse audience of fans.
Born in Mozambique and raised in Portugal, Mariza shot to fame with her unique interpretation of fado - a traditional Portuguese music style listed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. She is widely acclaimed as one of the most important singers of modern world music, having sold more than 1 million records worldwide.
