Macao locals presented with abundant employment opportunities
(Macao, February 26, 2012) – Sands China Ltd. successfully launched a two-day recruitment fair Sunday at the Macao Federation of Trade Unions Workers Stadium. Executives from Sands China and representatives from the MSAR Labour Affairs Bureau and the Macao Federation of Trade Unions welcomed a crowd of over 1,500 people to the inaugural event.
As one of the largest employers in Macao, Sands China has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the local labour market, providing career opportunities to locals at monthly recruitment fairs at The Venetian Macao. The company hired more than 5,000 Macao residents in 2011 and promoted over 1,000 locals to higher positions within the company during that same year. A festive atmosphere pervaded the day’s opening celebrations, with entertainment acts by some of the talented members of The Venetian® Macao’s Streetmosphere performers.
In his opening remarks, Edward Tracy, President and Chief Executive Officer, Sands China Ltd., stressed the importance of attracting local talent to its newest integrated resort, Sands Cotai Central, opening in April. “As we offer the Cotai Strip even more of our legendary service, we look to you, the talented pool of Macao locals, to help support and strengthen our newest development with your skills, intelligence and work ethic,” he said. He was joined on stage by Shuen Ka Hung, Director of the MSAR Labour Affairs Bureau and Chiang Chong Sek, President of the Board of Directors of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions.
The two-day job fair, running Sunday and Monday between 10 am and 5 pm, is focused on the employment of local residents and features positions like Security, Food & Beverage, Hotel Operations, Housekeeping, Facilities and Shuttle Services.
