(Macao, May 30, 2012)
– Four leading Korean pop groups – Girls’ Generation, U-KISS, SHINee
and B.A.P – will take the CotaiArena™ stage at The Venetian®
Macao-Resort-Hotel for K-POP Nation Concert in Macao 2012 on July 2 at
8pm, with what is sure to be a jaw-dropping performance filled with
number one hits and powerful dance moves. Tickets for the show go on
sale Thursday.
With the emergence of Korean pop music (K-pop) in
recent years, Beneco Asia plans to bring more attractive and innovative
Korean content into the region. With MBC (one of the three major
national broadcasters and radio networks in South Korea) as one of the
major sponsors for the event, Beneco Asia and MBC are jointly holding
K-POP Nation Concert in Macao 2012, to be broadcast on six MBC channels
as well as in nearby Southeast Asian countries. With the select line-up,
fans can expect dramatic performances with an abundance of hit songs
from the leading Korean artists.
The Venetian Macao is dedicated
to bringing in a wide variety of entertainment to Macao with its
world-class facilities. Other top Korean acts have held amazing sold-out
shows in Macao, demonstrating the huge demand for K-pop in Macao and in
the region.
Girls’ Generation is a nine-member K-pop girl group
formed in 2007. Their 2009 hit song “Gee” holds the record for being the
longest running number one song on KBS Music Bank, having held the
number one chart ranking for nine consecutive weeks. The group's
self-titled debut Japanese album is currently the highest-selling album
by a Korean group in Japan in Oricon (Japanese music chart) history,
being certified Triple Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of
Japan. In January 2012, Girls' Generation appeared on American late
night talk show Late Show with David Letterman, marking the first time
that a Korean musical act performed on the show. Girls’ Generation
received the Daesang Award (Grand Prize) at the 19th and 20th Seoul
Music Awards in 2010 and 2011 respectively, making them one of four
artists in Korean music history to win the title for two consecutive
years. The group was also crowned Artist of the Year at the 2009 and
2010 Melon Music Awards, another major music award ceremony in South
Korea.
U-KISS, a K-pop boy band made up of seven members, made
their formal debut in Japan in 2011, subsequently releasing three
full-length albums in Korean and Japanese. They have also made
appearances in various TV reality shows and films in South Korea since
2008.
SHINee, a South Korean contemporary R&B boy group
formed in 2008, has already held a successful concert tour and starred
in its own reality show. The five members are considered fashion icons,
having created a “SHINee trend,” and are known for their highly
synchronized and complicated dance moves.
B.A.P is a six-member
hip hop boy band created in early 2012. Their debut album, Warrior, was
released in February and ranked number ten on the Billboard World Albums
Chart.
