(Macao, September 19 2012) – The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel has once again been
chosen as a film location for a large-scale production starring high-profile
Asian superstars. My Lucky Star, a Chinese-U.S. romantic comedy starring
China’s most famous actress Zhang Ziyi and China's hottest pop star Wang Leehom,
is currently being filmed at various iconic locations within The Venetian Macao
until September 25. With its unmistakable landmark design, Macao’s ever-popular
integrated resort has become a bona fide hit with movie
makers.
Edward Tracy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sands China
Ltd., said, “The Venetian Macao is excited to welcome
the cast and crew of My Lucky Star. We believe films shot at The Venetian
will attract more tourists to visit and to experience all that Macao has to
offer as a world centre of tourism and leisure.”
Led by ubiquitous Hollywood director Dennie Gordon – who has taken
the helm of very a long list of television episodes that includes Burn
Notice, The Office and Ally McBeal, among many others – My
Lucky Star is a Chinese-U.S. crossover blockbuster, whose plot brings the
characters to Macao, with various scenes filmed between September 2 and 25 at
several of The Venetian Macao’s well-known attractions, such as the expansive
outdoor lagoon, the Grand Canal’s unique indoor waterways and bridges and the
ornate main hotel lobby.
Best known for her leading roles in Hollywood blockbusters such as
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Rush Hour 2 and Memoirs of a
Geisha, Beijing-born Zhang is taking on a dual role in the new romantic
comedy as both female lead and producer. Playing opposite Zhang as the male
lead, Wang is a multi-million album-selling Chinese-American pop star and one of
the hottest names in Chinese music today. He is also an acclaimed actor who has
starred in the Golden Lion Award-winning Lust, Caution from Ang Lee,
Little Big Soldier opposite Jackie Chan, and the self-written and
directed Love in Disguise.
Recent movies and television episodes shot at The Venetian Macao
include the Bollywood film Teri Meri Love Story (in production), Hong
Kong films All’s Well Ends Well and Break Up Club, Taiwanese TV
series Summer’s Desire, and Korean TV series Boys Over Flowers.
In addition, Sands China has hosted illustrious music award shows
such as Star TV 16th China Music Awards and 12th
Chinese Music Media Awards, as well as the highly-renowned Zee Cine Awards that
honoured the biggest Bollywood stars in India and across the world. This
