The Venetian®-Macao-Resort-Hotel reported that an incident took place at its
casino floor last Friday, 15 February 2008. A local resident was playing on a
slot machine when the Cotai Fortunes promotion
prize was awarded. In the course of conducting the appropriate steps before
awarding this prize, the player was identified as an immediate family member of
a Venetian employee.
Throughout the casino and at the Cotai Rewards Counters promotional terms
and conditions are posted.The terms and
conditions of the “Cotai Fortunes” special promotion
include that:
“12. Employees, temporary
employees, agents, successors, and assignees of Venetian Macau Limited, its
advertising agencies and promotional
companies involved in this promotion,
as well as family and household members of same, shall be ineligible to
participate in the promotion.” This
important term is again reiterated at the end of the Terms & Conditions by
emphasizing that “This promotion shall not be opened to any person under
the age of (18) years, employees or immediate family members of employees of
Venetian Macau Limited or its respective affiliates. Immediate family members
shall include, but not limited to, a team member’s parents, siblings, spouse,
children and any other family members living in the same household.”
Strict compliance of the terms and conditions approved by Macau Gaming
Inspection & Coordination Bureau is a condition precedent to the eligibility of any person to
participate in this promotion. These
rules are imposed to protect the integrity of this program
and to ensure that no one will unfairly gain advantage over the public in
general. Venetian Macau Limited is conducting an investigation on the
circumstances where an apparent breach of the rules has occurred, and has advised
the player accordingly. The matter has now been referred to the DICJ, and
Venetian Macau Limited will observe any direction it is given in respect of the
case.
Cotai Fortunes is a special slot promotional
program that took place started in
August 2007. Multiple winners have been selected according to the Rules and
four legitimate prize winners have been awarded a million-dollar prize to date.
