(Macao, November 26, 2012) -Themuch-loved tale of Swan Lake came alive Wednesday nightatthe Venetian Theatre, with a spectacular performanceofSwan Lake on Ice delivered by its cast ofchampionship ice skaters. Over 140 members of the international press from around the Asia Pacific region attended the much-anticipated première atThe Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel, part of Macao's first-ever Winter in Venice extravaganza this Christmas season at the integrated resort.
Swan Lake on Ice is an award-winning production by the Moscow-based Imperial Ice Stars, one of the leading ice skating production companies in the world, and is on stage in Macao until December 1, 2012, exclusively at the luxurious Venetian Theatre. Wednesday's debut show began after a violin performance in the foyer of the theatre by The Venetian Macao's talented artists, offering the audience a delightful prelude to the beautiful and captivating performance that followed.
The combination of grace and athleticism displayed by the cast ofice skaters - which features former Olympic, World, European and National champions - was met bythe rapturous applause of the audience, marking a successful beginning to the show's 10-day run.The timeless love story of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a beautiful woman transformed into a swan by an evil curse, was brought to life in front of the audience's eyes, performed to Tchaikovsky's magnificent and well-loved score, and set against lavish backdrops and scenery created by one of Australasia's leading scenic designers, Eamon D'Arcy. The production's world tour comes to The Venetian Macao withexhilarating new choreography,new effects and refined costumes.
