(Macao, September 26, 2012) -Sheraton Macao Hotel, Cotai Central - the latest addition to Sands China's expanding Cotai Strip® development portfolio - enjoyed a record-breaking opening weekend (22 and 23 September), achieving 100 per cent occupancy on Saturday, and 90 per cent occupancy on Sunday. Unveiled to the public Thursday evening with a spectacular opening ceremony at Sands® Cotai Central, Sheraton Macao Hotel is the latest manifestation of Sands China's effort to establish Macao as a world centre of tourism and leisure, diversifying the accommodation options available to the millions of business and leisure travellers that visit the city each year.
"Occupancy rates for Sheraton Macao Hotel's opening weekend far exceeded our expectations," said Gunther Hatt, Executive Vice President of Operations for Venetian Macau Limited. "The projected occupancy at all Sands China properties for the upcoming 40 days after Sheraton Macao Hotel's opening subsequently exceeds our original forecast, reflecting a strong consumer demand for quality hotel rooms at affordable rates."
The addition of Sheraton Macao Hotel's 3,896 hotel rooms brings Sands China's total accommodation offering in Macao to over 9,000 rooms and suites - representing more than 35 per cent of the total guest rooms available in Macao.
