Sands China Hosts Celebratory Luncheon for Dragon Boat Teams

(Macao, July 3, 2012) – Sands China Ltd. hosted a celebratory luncheon on June 25 for the three teams of employees that participated in the 2012 Macau International Dragon Boat Races held at Nam Van Lake on June 16, 17 and 23. The event was to thank and recognise the strong dedication and outstanding performance of the 35 racing team members in the fierce sports competition. Sands China executives shared a joyful afternoon and enjoyed a sumptuous luncheon together with the employees at the Sands Cotai Central integrated resort’s ballroom. In attendance were Edward Tracy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sands China Ltd.; Gunther Hatt, Executive Vice President of Operations, Venetian Macau Ltd.; and Antonio Ramirez, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Venetian Macao Ltd.

On June 23, Tuen Ng Festival Day, one of Sands China’s men’s teams competed with the other strong paddlers from Macao and abroad in the final of the Macau International Standard Dragon Boat Races (Invitational) – Open Category event. The Sands China team pushed its team spirit and team morale to new heights in the sports challenge, paddling as fast as they could in spite of the heat. Thanks to their powerful rowing, coordinated teamwork and unified team spirit, they defeated 29 other teams, winning seventh place – a great improvement from the same race in 2011.

Sands China congratulated the racing team members’ performance and expressed great appreciation for their dedication and effort toward the event. The team members were not only thrilled by their outstanding performance and achievement, but also realised the importance and power of teamwork through this three-day contest. Sands China believes encouraging employees to participate in the Dragon Boat Races is not only a great way for them to strengthen team morale and improve team efficiency and communication, but also an opportunity for the company to be part of an important Chinese traditional festival and one of Macao’s most well-known major sporting events.
