Legendary musician’s Macao debut creates memorable night for fans

(Macao, May 26, 2012) – Ten-time Grammy Award winner and platinum-selling musician George Benson garnered the rapturous applause of the Venetian Theatre audience Friday night, as he performed an incredible night of entertainment at his first-ever Macao concert, with An Evening with George Benson at The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel.

This legendary musician’s Macao debut was eagerly awaited by his admiring fans. His unique and enticing voice, as well as his fabulous guitar playing, gave the audience a memorable and enjoyable evening. Benson’s performance of classics like Take Five, This Masquerade and Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You were hits with his long-time fans, earning him new fans in the process.

The live concert was part of the entertainment line-up of the three-day Venetian Carnival that kicked off with a New Orleans Mardi Gras theme Friday at The Venetian Macao. Benson gave a special appearance at the extravaganza’s opening ceremony before performing at his Macao debut at the Venetian Theatre.

Spanning nearly half a century, Benson’s career is marked by more than 30 recordings, ten Grammy Awards and the honour of the NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship. His music is unique, yet appeals to a broad mainstream audience by mixing Benson’s jazz roots with pop, R&B and other genres. His guitar playing has earned Benson the nickname “Guitar Man.”
The recently launched multi-purpose Venetian Theatre offers an intimate, luxurious and exclusive venue experience like no other in the region. It is set to play a key role in bringing the best of Chinese and international entertainment to Macao.
