Legendary musician to give audience an enchanting night
(Macao, May 04, 2012) – Ten-time Grammy Award winner and platinum-selling musician George Benson will give his first live performance in Macao at the Venetian Theatre – An Evening with George Benson – on May 25 at 9 pm, for what is sure to be an incredible night of entertainment.
The Venetian Theatre was recently launched at The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel on April 8, 2012, and is set to play a key role in bringing the best of Chinese and international entertainment to Macao. Featuring champagne service, gourmet food and beverage items and other premium amenities, the multi-purpose Venetian Theatre offers an intimate, luxurious and exclusive venue experience like no other in the region. An Evening with George Benson is the latest example of the diversity of entertainment provided by the luxurious theatre, from classical and pop to blues, allowing music and culture aficionados a chance to enjoy some of the world’s best entertainment acts. Artists featured in recent performances include world-renowned violinist Jue Yao, Hong Kong diva Elisa Chan, the China National Symphony Orchestra, China’s top three tenors and Cantopop star Hacken Lee.
Spanning nearly half a century, Benson’s career is marked by more than 30 recordings, ten Grammy Awards and the honour of the NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship. His music is unique, yet appeals to a broad mainstream audience by mixing Benson’s jazz roots with pop, R&B and other genres. Not only do people around the world find his voice enticing, but this formidable singer is also renowned for his guitar playing, having earned the nickname “Guitar Man.”
Benson is also giving a special appearance at the opening of The Venetian Carnival on May 25 at 7 pm. The annual three-day extravaganza of international music, delicious food and drink, and non-stop entertainment is set around The Venetian Macao's outdoor Lagoon area and Campanile Tower, and features a New Orleans Mardi Gras theme in 2012.
