Macao, Special Administrative
Region of the People’s Republic of China (May 6, 2008) – Venetian Macau Limited (VML) announced today of carrying out the
Foundational and Advanced Management Program for VML and external potential
candidates; Executive Development Course for high potential internal Directors.

vision, mission and value to the trainees. Participants will be able to gain a
broad understanding of The Venetian business and demonstrate the learnings
through delivery of various projects relating to the Company’s core business
areas. On a long term basis, we ensure
these participants experience an ongoing career development where their potential
and skills are maximized to develop as first time managers,” says Mr. Stephen
Weaver, President of Asia Region, Las Vegas Sands Corp.
Mr. Daniel Shim, Senior
Vice President of Human Resources, Asia added,
“The ultimate aim of these programs is to equip new supervisors and first line
managers with a well-rounded set of basic management skills which they can
exercise at middle management in the future, and for potential Directors to
become higher level strategic leaders.”
This program commenced on March 3, 2008 and
is structured in two stages: Off-the-Job Learning Stage (4 weeks per year) and Management
Trainee Rotation Stage (24 Months). In Stage 1, trainees will be introduced to
the various concepts and theories that form the basis for the rotational
program. This learning stage will comprise both external course work and
in-house run courses. Trainees will also
undertake learning in Organization and Business studies managed by the Director
of Training & Development and subject experts from professional institutes.
In Stage 2, participants will spend up to
8 months over a 24-month timeframe, in which they will get to acquire hands on
skills and knowledge of the core business areas. They will undertake two to three rotations in
18 months with one or more participating departments which include: conventions
& exhibitions, retails, procurement, construction, finance, hotel
operations, human resources, information technology, marketing, procurement and
supply chain logistics and retail operations.
Subsequently, VML will
roll out another training program named “Advanced Management Program”, target
existing Team Members and external candidates.
This program is to commence in May this year and seeks to further
develop and transform high potentials middle level managers to become senior
managers.
For sustainable career growth, an
Executive Development Course was developed by VML senior Executives in
partnership with the Michigan State University. Program structure consists of
participants going through areas namely Business Strategy, Strategic Leadership
and Human Resources, Operations Excellence and Financial Management. In second
stage, participants will learn about one remaining key area called Strategic
Marketing and Competitive Strategy and will be required to report out the
business projects to the President and other senior Executives.
