China Dance Delight Bringing World’s Best Street Dancers to CotaiArena

Macao to host globally-recognised street dance competition

(Macao, May 3, 2012) - Widely known as the "Street Dance Olympics," the highly-regarded China Dance Delight is set to make a return to Macao on May 27 to amaze and energize open-space dance enthusiasts at the CotaiArena™ at The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel.

Macao was the first stop for China Dance Delight Vol.2 (Hong Kong/Macao) in 2011, attracting 213 contestants and 1,500 spectators. This year, the competition kicks off again at the CotaiArena, with street dancers fighting for the big titles by showing off their unique moves and skills.

In its efforts toward helping develop local talent, Venetian Macao-Resort -Hotel is the official venue sponsor of the event, providing the facilities and full technical support, such as stage and lighting set-up, of the CotaiArena™. In addition, ticket sale proceeds will go to the Macau Street Dance Culture Association, the organisation which brought China Dance Delight to Macao in 2011.

Hosting a diversity of entertainment acts - like China Dance Delight - is part of Sands China Ltd.'s effort to establish Macao as Asia's must-visit entertainment destination. The CotaiArena is already well-established as the premier venue in southern China for top international and Asian entertainment events, and is the only venue in Asia ranked in Pollstar's Top 100 worldwide Arena Venues, based on ticket sales.

Founded in Osaka, Japan in 1994, Dance Delight has gained widespread recognition in the global street dance world. It is regarded as one of the biggest and most influential international competitions of its kind, with regional and city-level contests held in Paris, New York, Taipei, Shanghai, Seoul, Singapore and other global venues.. The skyrocketing audience numbers, from merely 700 in 1994 to 75,000 in 2011, have undeniably shown the event's significance.
