(Macao, November 01, 2012) – Canton, the Chinese fine-dining restaurant
at The
Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel, will bring the ultimate wine tasting
experience to Macao on Monday, November 5. The exclusive dinner will feature
five distinctive courses paired with biodynamic wines from New Zealand’s Felton
Road, one of the world’s great Pinot noir producers, with the principles of feng
shui incorporated in the pairing process to enrich the dining experience.
Biodynamics is a method of organic farming that emphasizes the holistic
development and interrelationships of the soil, plants and animals as a
self-sustaining system.
The one-of-a-kind event, Wine Feng
Shui – Felton Road Biodynamics, offers members of the public a rare
opportunity to explore the intrinsic synergies between the principles of feng shui
and the best biodynamic wines, with the aim of achieving enhanced enjoyment of
food and drink. Nigel Greening, Felton Road’s proprietor, will join the
occasion to explain the science and philosophy of biodynamics and the connection
between his wines and feng shui.
The experience
will begin with a half-hour cocktail at 7:30 pm, featuring Bannockburn
Chardonnay. The specially-prepared five-course dinner that follows will pair
various Chardonnays, Riesling wines and Pinots with the sumptuous meal,
achieving harmony between the food and drink.
Developed in the
1920s by German philosopher Rudolph Steiner, biodynamic agriculture practices
go beyond organic and enhance productivity in a natural, holistic way. It is a
traditional method of farming guided by the seasons that considers the farm and
the soil as a single living organism. Biodynamic wine is natural, not only
because no chemicals are used, but also because it takes into account the
forces of nature – the seasons, the phases of the moon and planetary
constellations – resulting in wines that have more individuality, and some say,
purity of flavour and balance.
