(Macao December 14,2012) In
preparation for the upcoming 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival Award Ceremony to be
held at 8:30pm on December 15th at The Venetian® Macao-Resort-Hotel
and broadcast by TVBi, the festival committee conducted a worship
ceremony at an auspicious time Friday with incense and roast pigs, praying for
the ceremony to go smoothly and successfully. The Asia-Pacific Film Festival organizing committee
executive chairman Eric Tsang, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Sands China Ltd. Edward Tracy, award emcees Bowie Tsang and David Hu, Run Run Shaw’s eldest son
ShawWeiming and Taiwanese director LinShiyong all attended the worship
ceremony.
Mr.Tsang said he is happy
that the film festival is being held in Macao and he hopes
it can contribute to Macao's film
industry. He believes there are two essential elements for a successful
film festival. The first is the quality of the films, for good films can enrich
the film festival. And in his view, all the films competing in this year’s film
festival are like diverse flowers blooming together, for various films of
different styles can compete for various awards. The second element is the jury
of the film festival. It is an honor for the organizers to have invited the
jury member of Festival de Cannes and Hong Kong Film Awards movie queen Carina Lau as one of
the jurors of this film festival.
Award emcee Bowie Tsang said the best actor candidate list this
year is the most competitive yet. She has seen all of the festival’s competing
movies and thinks all are good enough to improve the quality of the 55th APFF.
The Asia-Pacific Film Festival
didn’t have an event last year, so with this year’s reemergence in Macao, the festival’s theme is “The New
Starting Line.”
Mr.Tsang expressed
his gratitude for the support given from those of all walks of life to help the
film festival go smoothly. He hopes the festival can attract more and more
films from different countries and areas to participate in this event. And he
also expects more events to be held in Macao
to vigorously develop its entertainment industry.
